--- Comment #22 from Markus Ueberall Markus.Ueberall@gmail.com 2010-01-02 05:15:50 --- Tested this with Acrobat Pro 7.0 using wine 1.1.35 (under Linux); the dialog "Checking for updates... [cancel]" shows up for one second, but nothing else happens.
Unfortunately, it's also impossible to use "msiexec" in order to install "AcrobatUpd714_all_incr.msp" from the command line (again, apart from two "fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW" warnings, nothing happens).
From the discussion on #winehq and a 3MB msiexec log created by setting
"WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+relay,+msi,+msidb" as well as a comparison with a "native" installation, it can be seen that the registry is missing a large number of entries (e.g., the entire "HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer" node is missing). Since Adobe uses a "patch" dll to modify both registry entries and file objects during updates (cf. the .rtp files which are kept in an update subdirectory of a forementioned "native" installations), it looks like the registry handling has to be fixed to get the update to work.
