I'm having this same problem trying to run Kingdoms of Amalur on Mac OS X Lion
10.7.3 (11D50). I'm using an ATI card as well but it's an ATI Radeon HD 4850
with 512 MB. I ran a +d3d_caps trace and it can be downloaded at the link
