The same behaviour with addon Chaos League: Sudden Death.

Game started in fullscreen shows black screen with cursor (however with sound
and working, I suppose).
Game started fine only in windowed mode, but then player could switch to
fullsceen without problem.

"Trick" confirmed. :)
Starting from Setup.exe helps.

Wine 1.1.41.
Ubuntu 9.04.
NVidia GF8600-GTS, driver v.180.44.
