I take it back, that error shows with/without the patch, as long as mono is
used. If I switch to dotnet20, I get (the original error):
The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

with your patch, I get:
Check your network and firewall settings.

so, I'm not sure if it helps or hurts..
