Clarify: was the problem triggered by a change in wine or the mentioned program
?

Neither winmm nor winealsa.drv have been touched in a few months, so that's a
significant delay to notice a nearly trivial to trigger crash...

Unless the multimedia angle is just a red herring and the problem lies
deeper...
