Is there any improvement with Wine 1.7.23 or newer?

The demo requires a CPU that supports SSE4 intruction set so I can't test it
right now.
Does any of the followings help?
1. use taskset to force the game to run only on 1 cpu: 'taskset -c 0 wine
childoflight.exe' 
or
2. disable xaudio2_7.dll in winecfg
