You're avoiding the question. We're asking you where executable you are trying to run is located, because you've not said where it's located.
Sorry! I didn't intend to cheat, just thought it was irrelevant ... The file.exe is located in a MSW$ dir.
How was it installed?
It was not installed (at least I do not remember having installed it, I just used to run it when I used Win$ows and recently through wine).
Looking in the MSW$ I found the original file-setup.exe and an install log going back to August 2004: nothing relevant in it (but see below ...)
So you're running an executable that's installed in a windows partition/installation?
Yes.
Have you reinstalled that program after upgrading Wine version?
No (see below)
Have you ever installed the application in a Wine prefix, and by installing I mean running the installer with Wine, not copying the app over from a windows installation?
No, but a few minutes ago, having found the riginal installer I tried that and this is the result:
quote --------------------
Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin /mnt/win_hdb2/downloads/Speedy-setup.exe ... Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\windows\system;c:\windows\system32;" is not accessible. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ [***] err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit /dev/mixer1: No such file or directory err:wave:OSS_WaveInInit /dev/mixer1: No such file or directory Wine exited with a successful status /usr/bin/wine: line 609: 9889 Terminated $XMESSAGE -timeout 30 -buttons " Dismiss ":0," Never display this message again ":3 -title "Wine Launch Window" "Invoking $WINEBIN/$WINE_BIN_NAME $@ ...
[***] I got this warning both running Speedy.exe with wine 0.9.44 and 20050310-1.2, but worked with the latter, despite the warning.
unquote -------------------
This Speedy-setup.exe is a program freely available for download to www.borsa.telematica.it (paying) subscribers some years ago. In practice it enhances data availability and charts given by the main program. However, as I've probably not enough stressed, the problem should not be the .exe but new wine libraries. The only clue is that when I run it using wine 2005, I cannot see any table before clicking on the login tag, whereas the 9.44 wine starts with the main table (last seen), but only offline! When I click on the login tag the warnings come out at 1 second intervals.
Hope this helps. Regards, Ennio
