Was the function implemented in wine 1.9.4 or will be in the next?
The function will be available in wine 1.9.5.
I am not sure if I am doing this wrong but I am using Wine 1.9.5 compiled from source and I receive the same error when attempting to run Darkest Dungeon.
That comment was about bug 37694 being fixed, this one, bug 40219, is still valid and not fixed.
