What version of staging was that? I do not seem to have this issue anymore, but
i am not quite sure when this was fixed. I thought it was fixed atleast for
staging around 8.13-8.14, but cant really be bothered to confirm that now.

wine-staging-8.20 seems atleast to me to work as intended on Ubuntu and Gnome
desktop.
