First I tried converting an MP3 file (or other format) to an AAC format by running the dBpoweramp Music Converter and then proceed to select the file for the conversion. After selecting the type of AAC format (HE-AAC), I proceed to run the conversion.
When the status bar reaches the end after 10 seconds, the program did not show the finish button, instead the program started to consume all the memory on the system (my entire 2GB RAM), and after about 30 seconds the program finally show the finish button and the memory usage by the program gradually reduce.
Upon completion the AAC file is still labeled as a temporary file but it is playable after renaming it manually. On a normal Windows system the conversion should had finished around 10 seconds when the status bar reaches the end. Please ignore the file naming as it is a separate issue, the main issue is the memory consumption.
