From my trying, WoW works in D3D mode if you turn off vertex shaders (set to
none on winecfg) or disable GLSL in the registry. Perhaps the person with it working has done one of these two options. Just disabling vertex shaders while leaving GLSL enabled results in lots of rendering errors though they can be enabled with GLSL disabled with problems that aren't too bad. Mostly fog is incorrect, targeting circles seem to have some z-fighting going on and other random lighting issues on the terrain at times. There is also some gui errors where elements will suddenly jump slightly to the right..then back to where they should be.
