I tested easyHDR with the download and steps from bug 47220 and that works fine
now. I checked that it calls _vcomp_for_static_simple_init_i8.

I wasn't able to get Astrotoaster or Gaea to call it, but I think easyHDR
working is good enough cause to close this bug.

If anyone can still reproduce this, feel free to reopen.
