Wow, with Wine 3.18 on openSUSE it looks like this bug is not only resolved, but we now have rather good antialiasing / subpixel rendering too. Well done devs! Should this bug be closed now?
You sure you're not using freetype 2.8.x? This bug is about 2.7.
