Which made the cracks smaller (not completely gone) but at least I can get around the world now, so the game is playable. Ill see if I can get around to taking a screenshot.
My own theory to the bug is that the bitmap Spore uses for heightmap/level/whatever is somehow incorrectly calculated, so the size falls one pixel short, leaving a void gap, which causes those chasms to be created throughout the world.
