GTA2 v9.6 crashes here with Wine-1.3.30 (showing the same backtrace than yours), but starts fine with Wine-1.3.31...1.3.37.

It works fine now and has worked fine since 1.3.32 or .33.
Confirmed fixed by 2 users.
