the demo doesn't crash for me - instead a black screen is displayed. This seems to be an older DirectDraw 7? game.
Interestingly if you move the window in virtual desktop mode you can see the game menu being flipped for a very short amount of time (two windows? z-order?).
Probably a dupe of those "DirectDraw games only showing black screen" bugs.
Prerequisite: win9x mode
