However, a friend found that if he installed gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly:i386 the videos work. Apparently really old windows games use the 32 bit mpeg decoders which Linux doesn't normally include. Well that could still be considered not Wine's bug, though :)
Precisely, that's a missing dependency.
