Confirming. Native IE8 does not help, it then complains about a missing msimtf.dll COM object. When native msimtf is used too, it crashes due to unimplemented IMM32.dll.CtfImmSetAppCompatFlags. When that too is installed, it still doesn't work.
There's no need for all that, IE8 doesn't work at the moment, and that's covered by bug 44005.
