Summary: winecfg should let users override IE registry key easily Product: Wine Version: CVS Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-programs AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
Many apps refuse to install if IE isn't at least a certain version, even if they don't need IE at all. They're just using it as a quick and dirty way to check whether certain prerequisites exist without specifying the prerequisites. Thus recipes for installing applications often say things like "Install MFC40, MFC42, and the VB Runtime, and then set this cryptic registry key to fool the app into thinking IE6 SP2 is installed"
Let's make that last step easier, and make it a pulldown or checkbox in winecfg.
