Yes, it does, but I would say the difference is to the bad.
The window does not minimize normally: the sound does not stop after that, and
I suspect the game is not paused gracefully enough (this is the difference).
But I cannot restore the graphical window anyway, I only see the KWin snapshot
of the last picture (this is like before). No reaction on keyboard or mouse
input.
However,it seems that somewhere between versions 1.4 and 1.5.13 something else
was broken, so my workaround no longer works (after upgrade from 1.4).
Unfortunately now I am too busy to dig this deep, sorry.
