--- Comment #8 from Athrun samurai_no_densetsu@yahoo.es 2008-04-06 18:40:29 --- Well here is my setup, but I don't think there is anything special.
Hardware: - AMD Athlon64 3200+ - KT800Pro Mainboard - Nvidia 7600GT 256MB - 1GB DDR1 Platinum Memory
Tested with the following software: - Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10, 7.10, all of these 32bit - Wine from version 0.9.45 to 0.9.55 (I build every version I test) - Nvidia drivers 87.76, 100.14 and 169.09
In my oppinion, the following is the key of the matter
Tested with two different network cards - VIA Rhine II (integrated) - 3Com 3C905CX-TX-M (Pci) With: - 1Mbit upstream / 12Mbit downstream
And from where I can recall, about five or six months playing LOTRO, I only remember having overkill lag a couple of times.
Of course, that aren't cutting edge network cards, even may be 'aged', but fully supported and stable, with mature in drivers. Maybe that's a reason.
