Cannot seem to run c&c 3, hangs at splash screen

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala with Wine 1.40 and have c&c updated to
1.09. I have installed the Kane's wrath wine package

I am attaching a terminal output of my problem...seems to be d3d related?

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
