Why the application sends and receives 1 byte packets? Does that happen in
windows (one can tell using wireshark).

If you telnet to 159.153.75.94 port 8995 you will receive a 22 byte package, I
can't see that in your log. There are several read requests (near to log end)
but they are probably over
