NL tray icon in the middle, blank and broken

I use Xfce4, it's native notification area is something I'm having problems
with. Xfce4 is version 4.6.2, default of Xubuntu 10.10.

Which version of NL have you tried, and what notification area's?

Attached is a screenshot of the problem. On the left you see a yellow icon for
notes, on the right you see the Audacious icon. The blank part should be NL,
but it doesn't work. Mouse cursor also disappears.
