AFAIR Photoshop 4 was the last 16-bit one, but maybe if some component in Photoshop 6 is still 16-bit the trouble may be due to the 16-bit changes made in the kernel from 3.14 onwards.

But there is a kernel flag introduced in 3.16 to make it work again.
But the crash location is at 32bit?
