Okay, so here's a workaround for now:
- Disable KWin compositor (Ctrl+Shift+F12)
- Run the program with wine
- Re-enable KWin compositor (Ctrl+Shift+F12)
- The system tray works as expected
Oops, the correct shortcut is Alt+Shift+F12.

I have the same problem, also with wine-staging on KDE, and the above workaround also works for me.
