unrelated to this bug ... but you have some interesting processes in your log:

Might be adware/malware ... you could check by uploading the .exe files here:
https://www.virustotal.com/

Maybe this stuff was installed by some other software, not related to NHL 2009
(drive-by apps).
In general avoid (re)using the same WINEPREFIX for multiple software
installations.
A good practice is to isolate apps and games by giving each own prefix
(WINEPREFIX=$USER/myapps/app1 ...).
