ivee on #winehq suggested setting the "nosmp" kernel flag may help. I currently
cannot try this because it takes to long for the kernel to initiate
laptop-mode, which causes my computer to thermal shutdown due to the fan not
running.

I'm going to try to see if other Source Engine games trigger the same issue.
