The main downside is that you'll get duplicate events inside Wine windows, and that the duplicate won't have the correct "injected" flag.
That might be a problem with the implementation, but it doesn't seem like a reason to restrict the functionality. For what it's worth, my testing didn't find any perceptible issues with this patch.
