While this is still correct concerning the xquartz system it is not anymore when using the mac native cocoa driver. You might consider closing the bug.
Explanation: While Linux distributions windowing system usually is xquartz, it's no problem to integrate the system tray, whereas the macs xquartz might be seen as a compatibility layer and so does not offer a full feature set. As wine on OS X now offers a native driver the integration is no problem anymore.

Confirm. It is no issue anymore. Wine apps will show their dock and tray icons now.
Resolving fixed as per previous comments. I believe a Fixed SHA1 for the mac driver could be used.
