In some earlier experimentation, it seemed that dropping official Windows d3d9.dll and d3dx9_*.dll into the zenilib/bin/ directory allowed everything to work, but that seems to be broken now. I can't get it to work again,
I see the same problem after installing a native d3dx9_36. Si there has been probably a regression wine. If you could pinpoint the patch that broke wine,that would be great
