This time I completely removed all the wine stuff from the HDD, even cleared
cache, lol.
Tried installing that 1.5.7 again but got the same issue.
Then added your personal ppa with 'newer' 1.5.7 build, updated through the
update manager and now everything works just as expected.

Neither new bugs, not ptrace issue :) Thanks!
