--- Comment #21 from Forest Hale lordhavoc@ghdigital.com 2013-11-21 22:48:08 CST --- Thank you for noting the relevant pieces of code to patch for such an override, however at the time I had attempted to patch that function with no success, as DRIVE_FIXED could be overridden by other things, but not "reverted" back to DRIVE_FIXED, and the setup logic was convoluted to say the least. I will not assume it remains so.
I have consistently found that shifting blame onto the user for configuration quirks that the user does not consider to be defects, is an entirely fruitless endeavor, that only leads to the user concluding "wine is not usable", rather than complying with the request.
So my approach to this was solely focused on making wine usable for these users, no matter how technically inconvenient that solution may be.
