valgrind errors from ShortIntegers test

Bonus deal: the ShortIntegers test also has
valgrind errors!  See attached log.  The
stack is symbolic all the way from the user
app through wine; source file names with .cc
on the end are the user app.  (Yay valgrind!)

(The same test probably doesn't have purify
errors on windows, but it's possible purify
missed something and/or that we ignored the warning.)
