--- Comment #3 from Vladimir Lushnikov vladimir@slate-project.org 2011-02-11 20:56:41 CST --- After some investigation, I got EVE to get to the loading screen without crashing once again, though I have not yet logged in.
Procedure to repeat:
1) Clean ~/.wine directory, run winetricks allfonts winxp gecko vcrun2005 vcrun2008 ddr=opengl glsl-disable orm=fbo d3dx9_35 d3dx9_36 2) Go into winecfg, add the overrides for d3dx9_35, d3dx9_36 manually (even though they are already there), and optionally set driver to alsa for the audio 3) Install EVE Online, incursion 4) Run for the first time and it starts up 5) Subsequent runs crash and you need to restart to be able to run it again
It is interesting that subsequent runs give a slightly different stack trace, which is attached.
Putting other config into the Direct3D section, such as VideoMemorySize etc. does not yield a successful startup. If you change the orm to backbuffer, then EVE still crashes upon startup but you can see the background image as a small square in the bottom left of the screen as it crashes.
