I'd be interested if someone could test the latest Git/SVN version of OpenAL
Soft. I tracked an error from other apps that resulted in odd crashes, to the
constant unloading/reloading of PortAudio. So especially if you have that, it
may be worth checking out now.

Instead of using the latest Git/SVN version, you can also try adding this to
the [general] section of ~/.alsoftrc (create it if it doesn't exist) to disable
PortAudio:
drivers = pulse,alsa,oss
