I was getting this gnarly problem lately with the
"err:process:__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out" showing up and
causing all sorts of havoc. Like   Vitaliy says all you have to do is rename
the ~/.wine directory to wine.old or something. ~/.wine will be recreated and
the problem goes away.
