Do you have HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{5d09b1ca-efde-36c6-a789-0c0b73031865} in your registry? If so, could you attach a .reg file of it?
As a work-around, try native .NET.
The game asks for .NET 3.5 SP1 upon installation, afaik.
