--- Comment #10 from Susan Cragin susancragin@earthlink.net 2009-05-27 13:08:15 --- Update... I am now on Karmic Koala. Sound recognition still requires tweaks and only works correctly with a USB device.
Pulseaudio still does not seem to work with wine.
So I do the following: sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio sudo apt-get install esound
Then I install alsa-utils from Intrepid, because my favorite commands have been removed from Karmic.
asoundconf list asoundconf set-default-card Generic
I set winecfg to alsa.
My card is recognized correctly by the program, but when the program tries to set the volume control it freezes. (Time seems to be the factor, not the volume control operation itself.)
So I get out of Dragon. I change winecfg settings to use OSS only.
Program works, although not very well. Accuracy score lower than expected. Program works better using USB audio.
