This is just a debug patch to make it easier to confirm that an application is
affected by this bug. I have no intention to submit it for inclusion.

This issue is mostly an application bug, i.e. the affected applications exhibit
the same behavior on Windows when other file system is used (e.g. FAT).
Moreover, I'm not aware of a clean and nice way to workaround this bug in a
general case.
