I retested the game with a fresh wineprefix and found out that the program only starts if a native d3dx9_36.dll is used because wine's version of the dll lacks of a function (see bug 20894).
With this new combination (fresh wineprefix + native d3dx9_36.dll) still exactly the same error occures, but after minutes of gameplay, not seconds.
So I don't know if it is an incompatibility between the native dll and wine or a bug in wine itself.
