Ok I tested it a little more (on wine version 1.1.12):
It seems only to happen when the client is unregistered (trial mode), if you have a client that is registered (a license is entered) you get the desired window, only the html rendering within the main window fails. (without ie6 from winetricks)
If I install babylon trial mode with ie6 I get a warning this trail version is expired even though it is not (I tried a fresh wineprefix). (ie6 still kills html rendering for the startup window)
So in summation this bug is actually a html rendering bug for a box that says that your version is expired (even though it is not) which is a bug too.
Should I file another bug for that, or keep this bug as the "Babylon 7 instantly expired bug in trial mode" and file a "Babylon 7 html render bug" (which is also a problem ins licensed mode)? Or something else?
I'd file a new bug for that (trial expired). As a guess, try native msxml3 to see if that works around it.
