Workaround seems to be simply rm -rf $HOME and restart cygwin. For me on the second time, bash.exe still got a stackdump (well, it made a file named bash.exe.stackdump), but I can run commands and not get tons of errors.
On cygwin under windows*
you probably don't want to do that under Linux :)
