I would like to add that I can also startup games okay. Just tried running "Evil Genius" from my Steam-Account. Everything works well thanks to changing settings to OSS.

Wine's sound system has changed quite a bit since 1.3.17, could you please retest in 1.6 (or preferable 1.7.2/newer) using alsa?
