--- Comment #13 from Javier Kohen jkohen@users.sourceforge.net 2010-08-01 12:32:45 --- I just installed this game and I'm seeing the same problems in this thread, even the same wine output in the attachment. I've followed the instructions in all the related bugs I could find to no avail. I've tried finding some discussion of this bug on Google with no luck. I'd appreciate it if anybody who's gotten this to work can contact me here or privately.
I've compiled Wine 1.3 with the just released gcc 4.5.1 and g++ 4.5.1 from Debian experimental, and I still have this problem. I'm using Linux kernel 2.6.34-1-amd64 from Debian experimental. The kernel is compiled with gcc 4.4.4. Does that matter?
I understand this fragment of wine's config.log from this build is relevant, and also shows the expected result: configure:11967: checking for ms_hook_prologue attribute configure:11983: gcc-4.5 -m32 -c -g -O2 -Werror conftest.c >&5 configure:11983: $? = 0 configure:11990: result: yes
I've both tried enabling and disabling the in-game community, though from tries with a few different games that do run, I couldn't get it to do anything, so I'm not sure it's working. I tried with the default keybinding of Shift-Tab, and also with a custom one of Ctrl-Shift-X (I've never seen it working though, so I don't know what to expect). I've seen lots of mentions to this XFire, but I don't see any files with that name in my computer. Do I need to install it separately for Deus Ex to work? Again, I couldn't find any information to this end in the discussions I found.
Yesterday I also tried gcc-4.5.0-10 (snapshot from July) to no avail. I can't upgrade to kernel 2.6.35-rc6, yet, because it still doesn't have a kbuild so I wouldn't be able to compile the nVidia driver. Just to confirm, I'm not seeing the seh:raise_exception problem, and all other Steam games I have that are expected to work with Wine work for me as well.
