Somewhere between 1.1.31 and 1.1.42, bug 22341 seems to have reappeared.

Exact same symptoms - no text in dialogue boxes. Verified with Touhou 6 to 8 on
Ubuntu Lucid, wine 1.1.42, 1.2 and 1.3.4.
