Unfortunately I do not know how to downgrade wine. If you have any hints I would give it a try.
There's an archive of ubuntu packages here: http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/binary/
though you might check /var/log/apt/history.log and /var/log/dpkg.log to see what other packages changed.
Thank you for your help. My logs show that on 5/19 wine 1.5.29 &1.5.30 were installed in the accumulated upgrades I mentioned in the initial post. I am having trouble downgrading to wine 1.5.28 as the install cannot resolve dependencies
