If there are any pre-built or wine-ready linux distributions that can run a later version of wine, I'd be glad to test on a VM. However I cannot upgrade my current version of my production desktop at this time so I'm stuck with 4.0.3 at this time.
WineHQ doesn't have any, but it does have binaries prebuilt for debian/fedora/ubuntu, so you should be able to boot a livecd of one of those in a vm and install the wine package: https://wiki.winehq.org/Download
