With Wine (I only tried staging) 1.9.12 it is a little bit better I guess. Now it doesn't minimize anymore, but you can "click through" to the task bar and interact with the start menu, even though warcraft is supposed to be fullscreen.
Warcraft with -opengl can now be minimized and restored without corruption (both via the taskbar entry and via clicking on the top bar in battle.net), so that's one problem solved.
