Commit 1835e2f5baa376eab95c760951fcc6a3612aa6cd might have fixed it by avoiding the fallback to sysmem buffer access. Note that you may need a Geforce 8 or newer GPU for that, I am not sure if Geforce 7 GPUs support GL_ARB_instanced_arrays.
